Instruments

Our Instruments

We maintain up-to-date instrumentation for tumour microenvironment research, AI research on disease big data, and genomic research on infectious agents. All are installed on the 7th floor of the Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital Annex, one unit each.

NextSeq 1000 next-generation sequencer installed in the laboratory 01

Illumina

NextSeq™ 1000 Next-Generation Sequencer

  • Based on sequencing-by-synthesis (SBS) chemistry, it accurately resolves homopolymer stretches and repeat sequences.
  • Supports output from 10 Gb to 180 Gb and is compatible with third-party library preparation reagents.
  • The on-board DRAGEN Bio-IT Platform carries the workflow through secondary analysis.
GenexusDx next-generation sequencer installed in the laboratory 02

Ion Torrent · Thermo Fisher Scientific

GenexusDx Next-Generation Sequencer

  • A fully automated turnkey NGS system covering sample purification, library preparation, templating, sequencing and the analysis report.
  • Goes from specimen to report within a single day with only two touchpoints.
  • Chips and reagents stay loaded on the instrument for up to two weeks, so small batches can be run without waiting.
Chromium iX single-cell automated analyser installed in the laboratory 03

10x Genomics

Chromium iX Single-Cell Automated Analyser

  • Measures whole-transcriptome expression at single-cell resolution, revealing cell-to-cell differences that bulk RNA-seq cannot show.
  • Profiles T-cell and B-cell expression together with the immune repertoire, supporting tumour microenvironment research.
  • Beyond the transcriptome, a single instrument also covers epigenetics (ATAC), immune repertoire (TCR/BCR) and protein profiling (CITE-seq).
QX200 Droplet Digital PCR system installed in the laboratory 04

Bio-Rad

QX200 Droplet Digital PCR System

  • Roughly 1,000× more sensitive than conventional RT-PCR, resolving target genes even in complex mixtures.
  • Absolute quantification needs no standard curve and is far less affected by PCR inhibitors.
  • Can replace IHC and FISH assays, which are more complex and time-consuming.
4150 TapeStation automated electrophoresis system installed in the laboratory 05

Agilent Technologies

4150 TapeStation Automated Electrophoresis System

  • Ready-to-use ScreenTape and automatic injection make electrophoresis straightforward.
  • Switching ScreenTape is all it takes to move between DNA and RNA analyses across a range of sizes and concentrations.
  • Results are captured as digital data, improving accuracy and reproducibility.
